Phuket Addicts is written for people on their second, fifth or fifteenth trip to Thailand's biggest island — and for first-timers who'd rather start with the truth than the brochure.
How we write
- Evergreen by design: zones, seasons, character and craft. Venue names, prices and hours go stale in months — official sources own those; we own the shape of the island;
- Honest over promotional: Patong gets described as it is, green-season rips get named in bold, and nothing here is “hidden” — Phuket has no secrets, only zones people haven't matched to yet;
- Respect first: sacred sites as sacred, reef rules as rules, animal ethics stated plainly.
What's covered
Beyond the beach-and-boat basics, we've deliberately gone deeper into the parts of the island that don't fit a postcard: the festival calendar that actually runs the cultural year, the everyday manners that make a visit smoother, the unglamorous logistics nobody enjoys researching, the market culture worth understanding before you shop, the wellness and muay Thai scene most beach guides skip entirely, and the protected coast and rainforest behind the resort strip. Same rule throughout: describe the shape of the thing, not a snapshot that expires.
Who this is for
Addicts, plainly — the people who've already done the one-week package trip once, loved parts of it, and want to come back and do it properly. That means we spend more words on how the island fits together (zones, seasons, culture, craft) than on any single ranked list of “best” anything, because rankings age badly and understanding an island doesn't.
Our update approach
We deliberately don't chase every news cycle about a rule change or a reopened attraction — that's what official sources and current local reporting are for, and we link out to the general categories of those sources throughout rather than pretending a static page can outrun them. What we maintain is the structural picture: which beaches suit which travellers, how the seasons actually behave, what the festivals and etiquette mean, and how the zones fit together. That picture changes slowly, if at all, which is exactly why it's worth writing down properly once rather than rewriting every year.
